This is one of my all time favorite shots. Sunset over Pier 39 in San Francisco.

It’s cliché to say, but I think it’s a great city. Something is always happening, people are always about. There’s a youth and energy to it.

My first visits to the city were for a girl, so maybe it started out special to me. I’d love to go back and do more street photography – maybe more portraits and black and white, too. I’ve considered a career there too. But the grass is always greener, and there’s plenty of beauty to be found wherever you are. That’s part of the fun of photography!

It can seem boring to take the same pictures in the same areas all the time, but maybe it forces you to become more creative and see things from another angle. Personally, I want to go places to take pictures – somewhere beautiful, or somewhere ugly, or somewhere with people, or things, or nothing at all. I want to see something different, and to me, photography is a way to escape.
